GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
This grade of steel is carbon manganese, high yield non alloy steel. It is called S355 because of the average minimum yield for this material is 355 Mpa. As a structural steel, it has excellent strength and weldability. It can be readily welded to other weldable steel. For its low carbon equivalent, it possesses good cold-forming properties. S355J2G3 is generally supplied in a normalized condition.

Thermal Processing & Machinability
- Soft Annealing: Heat to 650-700 °C, cool slowly.

- Forging (Hot Forming): Hot forming temperature: 1050-850 °C.
Machinability is good, rated at 90% that of the 1112 alloy used as a 100% machining rated steel.
